Pregnancy is a beautiful phase of every woman’s life. During this period they need to keep themselves pure from the within so that the baby stays healthy as the mother’s mood and health reflects on the growing baby.

Ayurvedic believers also say that one should nourish their senses with fresh flowers in the morning as well as listen to soft music as it helps to calm and relax your nerves. You should also touch your baby bump once in a while as that helps you to communicate with your baby.

Here are some tips which would help you to promote the health of the mother and baby during pregnancy.

Balance Vata dosha:

Ayurveda says that when you are pregnant you should always keep your Vata Dosha balanced. You can do this by comprising a diet of fresh, plant-based, whole or sprouted grains and non-processed foods. During pregnancy, make sure to have warm and freshly cooked foods in healthy oils like the olive oil, ghee, and coconut oil. Pregnant women must avoid eating leftovers as much as possible.

Eat for two:

During pregnancy, eat what you naturally crave for. But just remember to have a balanced diet which includes a lot of vegetables, proteins, and healthy starch. Also, remember that you have to eat for two people so avoid maintaining a single person’s diet. Do not forget to avoid hot and spicy food, uncooked leafy veggies, undercooked beans, food with preservatives and artificial flavors.

Follow Sattvic:

Ayurveda says you should follow a sattvic lifestyle that is to not harbor negative emotions like sorrow, grief, anger, fear, and doubt as this could affect the growing baby. One must always stay happy and expose yourself to a happy environment.

Practice Grabha sanskar:

As per Sanskrit, Garbha means the womb and sanskar means educating the mind. Thus, Garbha sanskar literally means educating the mind of the growing baby in the mother’s womb. It is believed that a child’s mental and behavioral development starts when the mother conceives. Thus, a child’s personality takes shape in the womb itself and this is influenced by the mother’s state of mind during pregnancy.
